Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park offers one of the most unforgettable camping experiences in the country. With its turquoise lakes, towering peaks, and abundant wildlife, Banff is a bucket-list destination for nature lovers, hikers, and campers alike. Whether you’re in a tent or RV, the park’s well-maintained campgrounds offer a front-row seat to Alberta’s most stunning natural beauty.
We chose to stay at Two Jack Lakeside Campground, a quieter, more intimate alternative to the larger sites like Tunnel Mountain. Waking up just steps from the serene waters of Two Jack Lake was nothing short of magical. The sites are spaced out nicely, offering a sense of privacy without losing that communal camping atmosphere. Amenities were simple but clean—fire pits, picnic tables, and nearby restrooms—everything you need for a comfortable stay.

For those traveling with an RV or looking for more services, Tunnel Mountain Village I & II offer easy access to the town of Banff while still maintaining a natural, woodsy feel. The sites here are larger and have electrical hookups, making them ideal for families or longer stays. The townsite nearby also means you’re never far from a good coffee, a hot shower, or even a relaxing dip in the Banff Upper Hot Springs after a long hike.
One of the best parts about camping in Banff is the proximity to world-class outdoor activities. From lakeside paddling on Lake Minnewanka to exploring trails like Johnston Canyon or Sulphur Mountain, every day can be a new adventure. Keep an eye out for elk, bighorn sheep, and even the occasional bear—wildlife sightings are common, and part of what makes camping here so exciting.

Overall, Banff National Park is a camper’s paradise that blends raw wilderness with just the right touch of comfort. Whether you’re after back-to-basics tenting or a full-service RV experience, the campgrounds here deliver unforgettable views, clean facilities, and easy access to everything this iconic park has to offer.
